"What is Project Chinta?"
Project Chinta is a research-based archival initiative focused on documenting and preserving the rituals of the Rai community, with a special emphasis on the Chinta ritual. Chinta, a profound ceremonial practice of the Rai people, embodies a deep connection between the living and the spiritual world. It represents not only a spiritual dialogue but also a link to the identity of the Kirat people.
The word Chinta—which translates to "concern" or "care" in several languages—symbolizes both the act of remembering ancestors and the responsibility of safeguarding cultural heritage. In the context of this project, Chinta reflects the urgent need to preserve these traditions in the face of globalization and cultural dilution. With younger generations increasingly drifting away from ancestral customs, Project Chinta seeks to bring awareness to the significance of these rituals, ensuring they remain a living tradition rather than a relic of the past

Aim of the Project:
The project aims to create a comprehensive cultural archive that goes beyond ritualistic knowledge, encompassing oral histories, personal narratives, and the lived experiences of the Rai community. By compiling and curating these traditions, Project Chinta hopes to build a digital platform—an *interactive blog*—where these cultural practices can be accessed and appreciated by younger generations, scholars, and cultural enthusiasts alike.
At its core, Project Chinta is an endeavor to honor the past, engage with the present, and safeguard the future of indigenous traditions, ensuring that the wisdom of the Rai community continues to thrive in the modern world.
